Education is a crucial component in creating a peaceful and prosperous world, as it equips individuals with knowledge and skills necessary for maintaining good health, securing employment, and fostering tolerance. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has created a global education crisis, severely impacting most education systems worldwide and presenting unprecedented challenges. The resulting school closures have had devastating consequences for children's learning and well-being, with an estimated 147 million children missing over half of their in-class instruction in the past two years. This disruption is projected to have long-term economic consequences, with this generation of children potentially losing a total of $17 trillion in lifetime earnings in present value. Moreover, the impact of school closures has disproportionately affected vulnerable groups such as girls, children from disadvantaged backgrounds, those living in rural areas, children with disabilities, and ethnic minorities.
